What’s Your #Mamavation?

Studies show that being part of a community dedicated to living a healthier lifestyle leads to greater weight loss and goal-setting success. I know that personally, when I am most motivated to exercise and eat right is when I know that there is someone cheering me on, whether online or in real life.

As women, we are constantly bombarded with messages about how we should eat, the best ways to exercise, what we should wear – the list goes on. It can admittedly be very overwhelming!

Which is why it has been such a blessing to be introduced to the Mamavation community.

Watch Lives Change

As the site’s About Page will tell you, Mamavation was created as a social experiment and weight loss campaign in social media by Leah Segedie. It targets moms everywhere who are looking for a healthy lifestyle change and are ready to embrace a new way of living for themselves and their families.

The first aspect of this new healthy lifestyle is a seven week “bootcamp” that moms can apply for, where they are given the tools they need to succeed, including meal plans, workout tips and equipment, daily food and exercise journals and the chance to post about their experience for the rest of the community to read and respond to on a site called Bookieboo. They post a video blog every week to showcase their successes and the things they want to do better – what could be more motivating and inspiring?!

Beyond the bootcamp, the moms have the chance to continue to interact and grow within the online forum, through initiatives on Twitter such as the #Mamavation hash tag, joining the Sistahood and Mamavation TV, which airs every Monday night.

If you’re interested in checking out more, visit the Mamavation site for details! Applications for the next Mamavation mom are being accepted now through June 30, but make sure to pay close attention to all of the requirements before you apply!

The reason we wanted to call attention to this very special community is because they have truly embraced us with open arms as we enter the social media space. We’ve made some great friendships with dozens of moms through Twitter and Facebook, and hope that these relationships will continue to grow into the future! In fact, the two winners of our recent Flatout Name That Slider contest are both Mamavation moms!

We’d love to hear your fresh perspective!

  • Are you a member of the Mamavation community? If so, why?
  • Are you a member of any other fitness or lifestyle support groups? Which ones?
  • Do you feel you are more motivated to live healthier with outside support?

    LOVE Mamavation!

I am one of the recent “Boot Camp” graduates and I wholeheartedly believe it has been the support of the Mamavation ladies that’s allowed me to achieve success on my weight-loss journey. Having others not only cheering you on, but motivating and pushing you toward a healthy life is KEY!

Mamavation is changing my life in ways I could not even imagine. I won the Move It and Lose It challenge after losing 10% of my body weight during the last Boot Camp. I could not have done it without the support and help of all the mommas on Mamavation!
