Do You Zumba?

Recently, we asked our communities on Facebook and Twitter about a new fitness class we’ve been hearing about called Zumba. The response? A lot of people love Zumba and are encouraging others to try it for themselves!

The concept is incredibly intriguing and fun. In the words of the creators, Zumba is “an exhilarating, effective, easy-to-follow, Latin-inspired, calorie-burning dance fitness-party that’s moving millions of people toward joy and health.”

Our friend Diana is a Zumba instructor. She was so excited when she heard that we were interested in learning more that she sent us a link to her blog post covering the class in greater detail: Zumba 101.

When we asked her whether it was possible to be successful when you have two left feet (hey, we’re just being honest!), Diana told us in all seriousness that regardless of previous dancing skills, anyone can do Zumba. She teaches people of all shapes, sizes and ages in her classes. That sounds pretty welcoming, if you ask us!

At Flatout, we are huge proponents of making good eating choices, but we also believe strongly that exercise and fitness are just as important on the road to a happy, healthy life. We are excited to learn more about Zumba and hopefully attend a class in the coming months.

Until then, we’d love to hear your fresh perspective:

  • Have you ever taken a Zumba class? If so, what did you think?

I tried Zumba once, and I loved it! However, I have to admit that I felt a little awkward at first. It adds great variety to normal exercise routines though!
